Rev. Karl Kopp, Ph.D.

Karl Kopp has degrees in English literature from Yale University and--after two years in the U. S. Army in Tokyo and Okinawa--the University of California at Berkeley.  He has taught English and American literature and Creative Writing for over ten years at the college level in Maine, Lebanon, Greece, Ohio, New Mexico, and Arkansas.

He left college teaching in the mid-1970's to pursue his own interest in writing and to follow the spiritual path.  With his wife, Jane, he founded Red Earth Press in Albuquerque in 1977, publishing three major "regional" anthologies of contemporary western American poetry and prose, as well as other books.  His studies with a spiritual teacher led him to the Christian Ministry of Divine Science, into which he was ordained in 1981.

A published poet, fiction writer, and playwright, he has been senior minister of the First Divine Science Church of Denver since December 1983.  He has two grown children.

Besides creative writing (especially plays), his passions include singing, being present at all Denver and Colorado Springs opera productions, the Boston Red Sox, and body-surfing at the beaches in southern Rhode Island in September when most of the tourists have gone and when distant hurricanes make for some long and wonderful rides.
